Staying hydrating is one of the most well known yet neglected health tips, many people overlook it simply because it’s so simple, it’s not glamorous or sexy, just solid advice backed up by irrefutable research. People will willingly spend hundreds of pounds on miracle cures, supplements, vitamins, face packs and organic food unaware that an adequate water intake would do so much more for their health!
Water is vital to every bodily function, so much so that the average person can only survive approximately two days without it. Many people will truthfully concede that they drink plenty of liquids, it’s just that they are the wrong type, caffeine and alcoholic drinks do more to dehydrate the body than they do hydrate it.
Examples are any drink that contains caffeine, caffeine is a diuretic when means it actually flushes fluids from the body rather than replenishing them. In fact a coffee of the stronger variety can contain so much caffeine that it isn’t even worth drinking from a hydration perspective.
A lack of hydration can cause all sorts of problems, long and short term. Being dehydrated can cause blurry vision in the short term and encourage more serious sight issues long term that may make it necessary to wear glasses.
Skin problems can also be brought about by a lack of hydration, as mentioned people will happily spend hundreds of pounds on expensive moisturizers and go a whole day without water, this is totally counter productive. Staying hydrated means the skin stays supple and healthy, avoiding lines and wrinkles that are prone to form.
Drinking more is such an easy addition to your life, it simply requires getting into a routine. You day to day activity levels determine your requirements for water but thinks like heavy exercise, high food intake and high ambient temperatures will increase the need.
