What Is Nutrition?

Nutrition

The word “Nutrition” can define many things.  There is good nutrition, bad nutrition, lack of nutrition and the study of nutrition, just to name a few.  The word doesn’t automatically denote something good, but it’s just a word.

This site will bring you many different subjects and takes on the word nutrition.  Many times people think of the statistics of food as broken down into various nutrition categories.  There are nutrition labels, which help you decipher what you are putting into your body.  There are a few states which require restaurants to put nutrition information on their menus.  That’s an interesting and eye-opening adventure!

Nutrition Is Not Just Vitamins

Some people think of specific vitamins when they are thinking about nutrition and health.  The world of vitamins, minerals and supplements can be very difficult to navigate.  Sometimes it feels like if you took everything recommended, you would be popping pills all day long.  This is not realistic, so you need to try to weed out the good information from the bad.

Yet another group will look at it in relation to calories, fat and weight loss.  In some cases, even weight gain.  A nutrition label on your food really helps to navigate and figure out what you are eating on a daily basis.  Many times it’s very difficult to tell how much fat and calories are in a food just by tasting.   If you are concerned about your weight, you definitely need these labels to guide you.   Learn to read food labels and you’ll be on your way to understanding.

Nutrition Covers Many Things

Then we have fiber.  Gee, there are so many things to think about. Fiber is one of the best things you can do for your body.  It helps prevent cancer and other diseases.  It also helps to fill you up, helping you to lose weight if that’s your goal.

Then there are ways in which aspects of nutrition can be seen to help prevent, or some people even may say “cure” certain diseases.

So you see, nutrition can be wide-ranging and complicated.  Learning to navigate your way through the information and labels will help you be on your way to better nutrition.
