Many of us assume that storing provisions such as meals ready to eat we often see advertised will never be needed in our lifetime. Although, circumstances are continually changing and we do not know what may befall us. Victor’s life was falling apart. Vic was facing mid-life with poor health, a failing marriage, and a sinking career.
Vic decided that he needed to a change of scenery to be able to clear his head. He headed out to the quietest location he knew, which is where he spent family summer holidays, although he had never traveled to the cabin alone during the wintertime . He knew the telephone reception there was fairly non-existent making it the ideal hideaway to avoid intrusions from anyone. He brought along enough meals ready to eat to feed an army since his cooking skills left much to be desired.
Vic drove up the long winding service roadway as far as he could until he came upon a fallen tree obstructing the path. With darkness fast approaching, Vic set off to the cabin on foot, where he figured the lights would not be working on account of witnessing the downed electrical lines. After a few enjoyable carefree days, Victor was rudely awakened in the dead of night by a howling wind. At first he thought the disturbance was his stomach growling since he had not eaten anything except for MRE meals since his arrival.
The window had been forcibly opened by a strong gust and he could see a heavy snow was falling outside. Vic quickly leaped from the bed to shut the window and tripped over an old trunk that sat on a rug in the middle of the room. Victor lay there unconscious from the bump he received on his head.
The next sound he heard was his teeth chattering as he woke up frozen from head to toe. He was covered in snow! The knot on his forehead was throbbing and he feared he had sprained his ankle when he fell. Somehow despite his wounds, Vic was able to slam the window on the piling snow. For the remainder of his stay, he ate the meals ready to eat, that he felt were fit for a king!
Thankfully, he had stockpiled the MRE survival food and he enjoyed every last morsel as his strength returned. When he felt strong enough to make the trek back to his vehicle, he felt that he was experiencing life more than ever before. The meaning of his fall became crystal clear. There are huge rewards hidden behind everyday challenges that are ours for the taking! Vic never lost sight of his goals after the mishap. He continues to stock up on meals ready to eat, just in case!
