We have all read the information behind anti-oxidating agents and how they’re potentially of benefit to our health. However when it comes to taking them we are faced with a choice, taking them as a supplement or consuming foods and drinks that are loaded in anti oxidising agents. Is one better than the other or will they basically do the same job? In this piece I would like to discuss this query in more detail.
Firstly let’s look at what antioxidants should do and how they are of benefit to our health and well being. Basically what they do is eliminate or neutralise free radicals which are said to be dangerous to our cells. How they do this is a debatable subject yet it’s my understanding that they reduce the length of of telomeres (protective caps of DNA on the ends of our chromosomes) which reduces the life of our cells and there ability to multiply.
Free Radicals are generated in two ways, one is a natural side-product of cell metabolism and the other is introduced by an unhealthy lifestyle. Smoking, obesity , stress and shortage of exercise to name only a few. By neutralising the oxidizing agents created by these two means we enhance the endurance of our cells and get rid of the sicknesses connected with aging.
So now that we have come to the conclusion that anti oxidising agents are a nice thing we want to decide if it’s better to take them as a supplement or thru natural healthy food. For the solution to this query I’m going with foods high in antioxidants and there are 3 main reasons for my decision.
Firstly it’s been discovered in certain studies that taking beta caratone or vitamin E in large doses may raise your possibility of death over a period. Secondly where a supplement may only contain one or just a few sorts of anti-oxidating compounds, food can contain thousands of differing sorts. Ultimately when eating natural sensible food we get all of the the other benefits linked with doing so. So my vote is with antioxidant foods.
