The Nissan Qashqai, has been a great hit due to its versatility.
Designed in Europe and built in the UK the Qashqai has become the fastest selling range for Nissan in Europe since it was introduced in 2007. The car has achieved 33,652 registrations, placing it 10th in the top ten of car sales, ahead of the similar Audi A3 and BMW 1-series. The Qashqai has broad-spectrum appeal as it offers so much for so many, whether they are retail, business, fleet and a considerable number of Motability users who can easily convert them into a disability car forwheelchair access.
As a ‘crossover’ the Qashqai is a family sized hatchback with the attitude of a SUV, a soft off-roader and the seating elements of a compact MPV. Prices for the popular five seat models, following recent re-modellings come in at £15,695 to £26,195 while higher end models including the +2 range from around £17,000 to £27.500. Most commonly sold are two wheel drive models and there are four engine options, 1.6 and 2.0 litre petrol and 1.5 and 2 litre diesel. Some of the two litre capacity engines also come with automatic gearboxes.
Extensive re-modelling in Spring 2010 and the introduction of the new 2011 range mean that all new cars fulfil the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions regulations. The changes earlier this year saw a fresh make-over of the front-end including a new bonnet, bumper, wings lights and grille. At the rear the lights were redesigned too, there is a more visible lens design featuring a clear section containing the reversing lights and red section with the break and night running lights. The tail lights now run on a dozen LEDs which offer maximum visibility.
The interior has been tweaked too, the control panel is clearer and more legible, the drive computer has a new white LCD screen and there is low-level lighting in the foot-wells.
