At War With Chase Bank

I have been a loyal Chase Bank customer for years.    I have had home equity loans, a mortgage and even credit cards through them.  Never been late on a payment once.    I use the Chase bill pay via Chase online because I like making my payments online.  I can’t remember the last time I wrote a check and stuck it in the mail.  Heck,   I don’t even know how much postage is anymore.   I guess it’s a sign of the times and one of the reasons that the U.S. postal service is having such hard times.  Anyway, I still use paper statements to trigger me into paying my bills.  So, I’m not completely paperless.  I got a notice from Chase the other day that they were going to charge me a $20 late fee.   I was dumbfounded, as I always pay my bills.  So, I got online and lo and behold, somehow I got switched to paperless statements.  I called Chase and explained that I did not request to become paperless and still wanted a paper statement, and that’s the reason I missed my payment.  I asked them to credit the $20 late fee, but they would not.  Plus, there’s quite a bit of interest charged to the account.  This is an account that I pay every month.  We use it for gas, groceries, eating out and everything else.  Needless to say I’m a little upset.  I told them to make sure to send me paper statements from now on, and I’m definitely going to mark

the due date in my calendar and keep my eye out.  I may even take my business elsewhere.  I generate more than $20 revenue per month for them, so I don’t think they would want to lose me as a customer.  Oh well, that’s my rant for the day.
